June 14, June 28, July 12, August 2, and August 16
You are invited this summer to join us for an opportunity for fellowship and education. In this book study we will be reading together and discussing the book “Waking Up White and Finding Myself in the Story of Race.” This book has a unique approach to exploring questions of race by reflecting on the experience of whiteness. Debby Irving, the author, shares her journey to more deeply understanding questions of race and racism through deconstructing her own sense of what it means to be white. If you cannot make all the classes, then don’t worry. Each lesson will be complete in themselves and have a different aspect of the book to explore.
Our initial gathering will be on Wednesday, June 14 on the Heartland Church patio from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. We will be grilling Hamburgers and Hot Dogs and encourage you to bring a side dish. Please contact Pastor Alex to sign up and/or to purchase a book (not a requirement). Childcare is available by request.
Mark your calendars for this year’s VBS, Hero Central and discover your strength in God!
