Heartland Presbyterian Church is a Christ-centered community called to provide opportunities for creative and inclusive worship, spiritual growth, and service. We are called to connect to God; to connect to each other; and to connect to the marginalized – those stepped on, stepped over, left out, and left behind. We welcome any searching member of the community, no matter where you are in your faith journey, regardless of age, race, gender or sexual orientation.

Lenten Opportunities for 2018
There are a number of opportunities for your spiritual journey this Lenten season. You are encouraged to find the ones that will feed your soul and transform your heart.
Contemplative Prayer Groups
Heartland Church will be offering two opportunities for you to experience the presence of God through Centering Prayer. During the season of Lent, on Tuesday mornings from 7 AM to 7:30 AM in the sanctuary, we will be practicing a form of contemplative prayer made popular by Thomas Keating, a Trappist monk, and Richard Rohr, a Franciscan friar. If you are new to this type of prayer there will be some instruction as well as encouragement in its practice. If you have any questions contact Pastor Alex (alex @hpcusa.org).
Steve Dressel will be leading a Contemplative Prayer session each Tuesday from 12:15-12:45pm during Lent (starting 2/20 at Smokey Row Coffee Shop, 1910 Cottage Grove Ave (at Martin Luther King Drive). If you would like to learn more or participate in this prayer, but are unable to make either the Tuesday morning or lunchtime sessions, please let Steve know if you are interested in learning and being encouraged and supported individually electronically.
New Adult Class for Lent
If you are interested in learning about different spiritual practices we have available to us as Christians this is your opportunity. Each Sunday during Lent one or two different spiritual practices will be considered. There will be a time to learn about the discipline, time for discussion and in certain cases there will be time to practice. If you would like to learn more about personal devotions (meditation), prayer, fasting, Bible study or others you are invited at 9:00 a.m. February 18 as we begin this journey through Lent.
